Cole & Mason Partners with Award-Winning Chef Tom Hunt to Launch ‘The Art of Seasoning’ Series

Unlocking the Magic of Seasoning with One Twist at a Time

Cole & Mason has been at the forefront of expert seasoning since 1919, providing home cooks with the tools they need to unlock the full potential of flavour. Now, we’re excited to announce the launch of our new campaign, The Art of Seasoning – a social-first video series designed to inspire and empower home cooks to embrace seasoning with confidence and creativity.

In collaboration with award-winning chef and Guardian food writer Tom Hunt, this series helps home cooks rediscover the joy of cooking – just in time for the festive season. Tom, known for his sustainable approach to food and over two decades of culinary expertise, will show how simple yet effective seasoning can elevate any dish.

Empowering home cooks to season with purpose

As cooking habits evolve, seasoning is becoming the star of the show. With nearly 73% of UK adults now cooking from scratch at least once a week and 46% of Gen Z doing so more often, home cooking has transformed into a creative and meaningful outlet for many. And in the midst of this culinary shift, seasoning is taking centre stage.

The Art of Seasoning taps into this movement by showcasing how to master the fundamentals of seasoning and explore the depth and complexity of flavours. Tom will share tips on building layers of flavour and experimenting with creativity in the kitchen – all with the help of Cole & Mason’s expertly engineered seasoning tools.

A partnership rooted in quality and sustainability

With over 25 years of experience, Tom Hunt is the perfect partner for this flavour-focused series. Renowned for his climate-conscious approach to cooking, Tom is also the author of Eating for Pleasure, People & Planet and a regular contributor to The Guardian. His deep understanding of ingredients and passion for sustainable cooking make him a natural fit for The Art of Seasoning.

Tom says: “After 25 years as a chef, the mantra 'taste season, taste season' is second nature to me. It’s the core of what makes a dish truly exceptional. The simplicity of seasoning, using high-quality ingredients like sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper, elevates a recipe from the mundane to something extraordinary.”

Transforming simple ingredients into  extraordinary dishes

Each episode of The Art of Seasoning series features vibrant dishes designed to showcase the power of seasoning. From seasonal upside-down tarts to flavour-packed pizzas, these recipes prove that with the right balance of salt and pepper, even the most humble ingredients can create indulgent meals. Tom also highlights sustainable food choices, showing how small adjustments – such as reducing waste and embracing seasonal produce can make a big impact both on flavour and the environment.

Recipes like potato truffle pizza and apple-chestnut tarte Tatin are perfect examples of how simple ingredients can come together to create festive, flavour-packed feasts.

Seasoning as an Art Form

Tom adds: “This collaboration with Cole & Mason is a celebration of that very principle. Seasoning is an art, and with the right tools, it transforms a meal into an experience. It's all about trusting your palate and letting the ingredients speak for themselves. The upside-down leek tart recipe is a perfect example – where the right seasoning turns a dish into something that rivals even the finest restaurants."
