Oats are my go-to breakfast (almost) 365 days of the year! Stove top oats, overnight oats and baked oats, whatever time of the year oats are always a winner.
Apple & cinnamon are one of my favourite flavour combinations, especially in the autumn/winter months when something warming is enjoyed that little bit more.
Kitchen tools needed: Saucepan, Cole & Mason Wallis Nutmeg Grinding Mill, Cole & Mason Saunderton Spice Storage Shaker
Prep: 5 mins
Cook: 15 minutes
- 80g Gluten free oats
- 1 Tsp chia seeds
- 400ml Almond milk (or dairy free milk of choice)
- 1 Tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ Tsp ground nutmeg
- 14g Raisins
- 1 Apple diced
- 2 Tsp maple syrup
- Add the oats, chia seeds, almond milk, cinnamon, and nutmeg to a small saucepan. Turn the heat to low/medium and leave to slowly cook.
- Whilst the oats are on the hob make the stewed apple. Add diced apple, raisins and 1 tablespoon of water to a small saucepan, cover and simmer until the apple is soft – around 5 minutes.
- Stir the oats regularly when they are simmering and beginning to thicken. Once you reach your desired consistency turn the heat off and stir in your maple syrup. To serve top with your apple and raisin mix, along with an extra dusting of ground cinnamon.
Top Tip Oats are super versatile, so why not add some toasted walnuts and/or cranberries for a real healthy kick!
